A Research Report On Political Text Translation From The Perspective Of Deconstruction Translation Theory

In the 1960s,Jacques Derrida,a well-known French philosopher,published three works,including Speech and Phenomena,Writing and Difference and of Grammatology,which marked the generation of deconstruction.Different from the traditional Western translation theories,the deconstruction translation theory advocates challenging the absolute authority of the original text and the original author,questioning the"logocentrism" and "binary opposition" which occupied the leading position of Western thought and philosophy at that time.At the same time,it believes that the translator should be free from the constraints of the original author and it also emphasizes that the translation should not be attached to the original text.In addition,it considers that the translator should play a positive role in the process of translation as far as possible to reflect linguistic and cultural differences and diversity between the source and the target texts,stressing the significance of the uncertain and distinctive meaning against different historical and cultural backgrounds and the intertextuality among different texts.At the same time,the political text has the characteristics of linguistic standardization,subjectivity of views and the game among different ideologies.Therefore,when translating such texts,translators should fully take account of the target readers’ aesthetic taste,social and cognitive context and ideology in different linguistic and cultural backgrounds.In addition,due to the subjectivity of writers in such political text,translators need to adjust the original text in different linguistic and cultural contexts,and to appropriately add,abridge or delete relevant contents,to meet the inner desire of the readers in the target culture and meet the requirements of the cultural ideology of the target language.In this process,the original meaning will undergo change,to a certain extent,and fail to achieve absolute fidelity to the original text and author.This feature of political texts is in line with the connotation of deconstruction translation theory and its translation ideas,providing theoretical feasibility and practical possibility for the deconstruction translation theory to guide the translation of political texts.Against this background,this study can greatly improve the translator’s subjective initiative and reflect the intertextuality of texts and showcase the differences and diversities of languages and cultures under different ideologies.Therefore,this thesis takes the deconstruction translation theory as the research method and takes Asia Pacific Countries and the US Rebalancing Strategy as an example to introduce some specific deconstructive translation ideas put forward by Derrida,Benjamin and Venuti and apply them to the translation practice of political texts.This thesis mainly highlights the translator’s subjectivity,intertextuality among texts,linguistic and cultural differences and diversity,which provides some reference and possibility for its future development and research.
