With the advance of some national development strategies like “The Belt and Road ”and“China-Pakistan Economic Corridor”,there is great significance for the economic develpoment of China that Xin Jiang is playing its central role in the development.As an important part of Xin Jiang,the development of Nan Jiang has a certain practical significance.Under the background of Globalization,as the international language the role of English is still working,so this is the reason that why the demand for the local talent's English quality in South Xin Jiang is increasing,and how to improve the English ability of students in the region through the College English has become the focus of attention of the universities in South Xinjiang.Since 1970 s,the research center of language teachers and researchers has shifted from “how to teach” to “how to learn”,and the importance of language learning strategy is increasingly prominent.And with the expansion of enrollment in colleges in China,the problem of traditional college English teaching mode is also increasingly prominent.Based on this,College English Graded Teaching arises at the historic moment,and worked very effectively in many colleges.This thesis is a survey of the current situation of the use of English learning strategies for non-English Majors in colleges of South Xinjiang which is based on graded teaching.Literature related to language learning strategies and graded teaching in foreign countries and China is reviewed,and based on Constructivist Theory of Learning,Oxford's language learning strategy theory,Krashen i+1theory and the theory of “Zone of Proximal Development” as the theoretical basis of this study.The literature method,the questionnaire survey method and the interview survey method are used in this study.Based on Oxford's Strategy Inventory for Language Learning,this study investigated the current condition of English learning strategies used by 245 non-English majors from K University in South Xinjiang based on Graded Teaching.Discussion:(1)what is the overall condition of the use of English learning strategies for students in colleges of South Xinjiang?(2)what are the differences in the use of English learning strategies in class A,B and C under Graded Teaching?(3)what are the differences between the students of liberal arts classes and science classes in the use of English learning strategies under Graded Teaching? Through the data collected from the questionnaire survey,and the Likert Scale is used to quantify the results of the invesigation.The statistical software SPSS is used to calculate and analyze the data,andthe interview survey is supplemented at the same time.The survey results show that:(1)The overall condition of English learning strategies use frequency of non-English majors students in colleges of South Xinjiang based on Graded Teaching is not high,the most commonly used learning strategies are compensation strategies,and social strategies are the least frequently used;(2)The English learning strategies use frequency is A class >B class >C class,there is significant difference in the use of memory strategies between A class and C class,and there are no significantly differences in other English learning strategies in these three classes,that means the differences of three level class students in other strategies are not significantly different;(3)The English learning strategies use frequency is the liberal arts classes> the science classes,there is significant difference in the use of affective strategies,and there are no significantly differences in other English learning strategies in these two classes,that means the differences of the two classes in other strategies are not significantly different.The results of this study show that: most of students are satisfied with the Graded Teaching,but in the reason of students' English learning strategy use is not appropriate,the classification effect is not very obvious;In language learning strategies,students generally do not have the concious of using learning strategies,and they are lack of relevant training.Therefore,this thesis suggests that: Firstly,colleges in South Xinjiang should consummate the system of Graded Teaching of college English;Secondly,the awareness od the necessity of English learning strategies training should be aroused in colleges of South Xinjiang;Thirdly,some suggestions on training English learning strategies are put forward for school,teachers and level students in this thesis.
