Situation creation method was first applied to Chinese teaching by Li Jilin in China,and later gradually applied to oral Chinese teaching for foreigners with the development of the cause of Chinese teaching for foreigners.Affected by constructivism theory and situated cognition and learning theory,situation creation method emphasizes the importance of realistic situation to students' acquisition of comprehensive input in the teaching process,and advocates that teachers should create learning situation for students by certain teaching means in the teaching process,thus bringing true communicative feelings to the students.Under the guidance of constructivism theory,according to the principle of authenticity and interestingness of situation creation,teachers depict situation through language,display situation through pictures,actions and material objects,render situation through images and music and feel situation through students' performance,thereby creating a language environment integrating viewing,listening and speaking into one for students.At the beginning of its introduction to oral Chinese teaching for foreigners,situation creation method earned a place in oral Chinese teaching for foreigners by virtue of its superiority,and it is able to create a relaxed learning atmosphere for students and reduce the students' learning anxiety.In addition to this,realistic situation can enhance the students' sense of substitution,give play to the students' initiative in classroom communicative activities and enhance the students' cooperative ability.Although situation creation method has been gradually accepted in oral Chinese teaching for foreigners,teachers should determine whether the teaching method is well matched with the teaching content,whether the set teaching goal can be achieved,and whether the situation activity is representative and has distinct features before using the situation creation method.Furthermore,in the process of creating the situation,teachers should constantly improve themselves,enhance their ability to cope with non-presupposed events in teaching,reasonably arrange the teaching situation,and create rich and realistic situation activities for the students.
