Bergson had a lot of works on philosophical theory.His philosophical view and aesthetic view have had a great influence on western modernism art and literary from theory to creation.Although he did not specifically set up an integral system of aesthetics to express his aesthetic concepts,but his aesthetic ideas are interrelated with his whole philosophical ideas.We can see out his aesthetic theory from his philosophical works as well as his comedy theory.He had put forward to recognize the world with intuition,and take time as an endless flow of life.On the basis of these viewpoints,a moving aesthetic concept has come into being.He has made a specific distinction between psychological time and physical time.The moving aesthetic concept is unique in the history of literary theory.In Bergson's "Laugh",he has made an interpretation of comedy.In his work,"Laugh" includes not only the comedy in literary but also in daily life,it is explained in a broad sense.In this dissertation,I would like to study “comedy”which is regarded as an important aesthetic category in literature.In terms of literary aesthetic,demonstrate Bergson's comedy aesthetics.This dissertation is divided into four parts:The introduction part includes the background of Bergson's theory,the research status the main purpose and significance of the topic selection,and the research methods in this dissertation.The first chapter starts from Bergson's philosophical theory,explores his aesthetic concept.To summarizes his aesthetic view through his elaboration on a series of philosophical issues,such as duration,times,awareness and life.Bergson's aesthetic concept is not only seen in his philosophical works but also in his view of comedy,so it is necessary to sort out his philosophical perspective.In his comedy theory,comedy does not eligible to some basic requirements for art and literature aesthetics,but between the comedy and his aesthetic concept,there still have some kind of connection.This special relationship is an important feature of his theory.It will be discussed in this chapter.The second chapter discusses the comic context theory.The problem of "human" is a very important part in Bergson's comedy aesthetics,because human is the inscape of comic environment.Starting from this basic concept,I will explain the special situation which is consisted mainly of the actor and the receiver,further study on group property and the times of comedy.The third chapter discusses the comic elements in literature and art,including the external expression and the internal psychology.Bergson thinks that the performance of comedy is often clumsy and awkward,at the same time,there hides something inflexible that is distinguished from ugliness.In addition,the psychological level of comedy is also discussed in this part,it is because of the dislocation between the actor's abnormal mental state and the receiver's normal mental state comedy effect can be produced at last.In the last section of this chapter,this problem will be discussed.The fourth chapter starts from Bergson's specific comedy theory and combines with the present situation of contemporary Chinese comedy creation,discuss some important values shall have in comedy,including the pursuit of the aesthetic values of comedy,the relationship to people's healthy psychology,the correct orientation of social values,and the ultimate pursuit of “goodness”.
