The phenomenon of burnt earth in large area of the houses is mostly found in the remains of Yangshao culture and is concentrated in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River.There are obvious differences in the cognitive results of the academic circles on their causes,all of which are generalizations.On the basis of previous studies,this dissertation makes a further discussion on the causes of the formation of the burnt earth phenomenon in house remains.Based on the reviews of the burnt earth phenomenon in the houses in the Yangshao period,by the use of research methods of Archaeology and ethnology,the dissertation starts with the sintering characteristics of burnt earth phenomenon in the house remains and its distribution in the settlement sites,and analyzes the common property and difference between the burnt earth phenomena of the houses.Then,based on the structural characteristics of houses,the demand for building materials and labor costs are estimated.Finally,from the perspective of multidimensional field of vision,the formation process and main inducements of all kinds of burnt earth phenomena in the house remains are analyzed in depth.Through the analysis,there are kinds of burnt earth phenomena in the house remains with different sintering characteristics,the reasons should also have the characteristics of diversity,involving the burning technique,juanqi custom,fire accident and fire attack tactics,can not be generalized.Among them,the burnt earth phenomenon which is on a grand scale or all the houses of the settlement are burnt,is likely to be the result of fire attack tactics.It means that the phenomenon of burnt earth in house remains in Yangshao culture period is directly related to the conflict between settlements and ethnic groups besides the influence of architectural technology and religious conceptions.
