This is a report on the translation of The Meandering Jinjiang River: The History of Bashu Culture(Chapter One). This book was written by Duan Yu and Tan Luofei, and it is mainly about the development of Bashu culture. The first chapter is mainly about prehistoric civilization of Bashu, including its ecological environment, the ancient Bashu culture and the Neolithic and Paleolithic culture. The translation of this chapter can not only help to spread the culture of Bashu, but also help the foreign readers to appreciate the rich and colorful culture of Bashu,as well as its profound history and civilization. The translation of long and difficult sentences and professional terms is the key and difficult problem to solve. To figure it out and make the translation more accurate and aesthetic, the translator uses Liu Miqing’s “cultural translation” theory to guide his translation.Cultural translation theory mainly includes the principle of cultural adaptation, the principle of accuracy and the aesthetic principle. The principle of cultural adaptability means that the expression of cultural information should adapt to the cultural reality and development of the target language. The principle of accuracy means that translation is science, and the translator can not add anything based on his own imagination during the translation process. The aesthetic principle means that translation is artistic and aesthetic, and this principle should be combined with the principle of accuracy.During the translation process, the translator of this chapter was guided by the three principles and used the translation skills of division, conversion, transposition, addition and omission.By using these skills, the translation will be more accurate and appropriate.
