| STARTALK is a subproject of the US National Security Language Initiative.The US government officially launched the STARTALK project in 2007 and was jointly established by the National Security Agency and the National Foreign Language Center.After ten years of development,this project has provided valuable resources in language teaching theory,teaching methods,classroom management,and student assessment,and is recognized as an important asset in the world language teaching field.This article takes the six language teaching principles followed by STARTALK as the research object,and uses the BCIU STARTALK summer Chinese student project as an entry point to discuss the principles of U.S.language teaching and its enlightenment for training programs of volunteers of Chinese teacher in the United States.The popular teaching philosophy and principles of Chinese as a foreign language are compared with it.For the time being,there are only a few studies on the STARTALK project.Therefore,the author can only observe and analyze the six major language teaching principles given by STARTALK in combination with my teaching practice in the American classroom,the participating teaching seminars,and the data provided by the STARTALK official website.This thesis is divided into six chapters.The first chapter is the introduction of this article.The author mainly introduces the research origin,research object,research significance and research methods.The second chapter mainly expounds the research status at home and abroad and is the research summary part of this article.Due to the limited literature on STARTALK project language teaching principles,the author also searched and analyzed the literature on the principles of Chinese language teaching.The third chapter is about the BCIU STARTALK Summer Chinese Student Project Profile,including the background overview of the BCIU STARTALK Chinese Student Project and the observation and analysis of the curriculum of this project.The fourth chapter is the specific application of the six major language teaching principles in the BCIU STARTALK summer Chinese student program.Including the specific interpretation of the six major language teaching principles followed by the STARTALK student project,detailed case presentation and analysis of Chinese language classes,and the comparison of the six language teaching principles with the Chinese teaching principles advocated by domestic scholars.The fifth chapter focuses on the revelation of the six language teaching principles to the Chinese language teacher training program in China.Including the introduction of training programs for Chinese language teachers and suggestions for the project.The last chapter is the reflection and summary of this article.This article discusses principles of language teaching in the United States,but it is not intended to extol the teaching methods and teaching concepts of the United States.The purpose of the author is to arouse reflections on the principles of Chinese language teaching.The pros and cons of this need to be discovered based on teaching practice,and the final choice can be made.And we even can find out the language teaching principles and methods that are suitable for Chinese language teaching itself. |
