| In the history of calligraphy art,some calligraphers pay great attention to classicism.However,their unwearied exploration of "classicism" has led to huge differences on understanding of "classicism" due to the limitations of the times,life experience and other factors,thereby forming their different classical pursuits and giving birth to a splendid calligraphy art.Wang Duo is such a calligrapher.He is one of the calligraphy masters following the ancient style in the calligraphy history.He spent his life on following the ancient norms,and imitating the works of famous ancient masters was an indispensable part of his life.His thoughts of following the ancient style have a profound impact.His practice of imitating the ancient masters is unique,clear,bold and innovative.Starting from Wang Duo's study on the ancient cursive script,this paper mainly analyzed and introduced the causes for the formation of Wang Duo's thoughts of imitating the ancient masters,compared his works with other calligraphers who advocate the ancient style and explored his unique interpretation of the "ancient style".It mainly focuses on Wang Duo's attempts and breakthroughs in the practice of imitating the ancient masters,and made an analysis with examples combined with some of Wang Duo's works,thereby learning about his unique experiences and methods.Along with the track of Wang Duo's calligraphy art,his practice of following the ancient style is also gradually adjusted from the original faithful copy of the original copybook to freehand imitation and addition of more aesthetic awareness,thereby forming Wang Duo's unique calligraphic style.The whole process is Wang Duo's repeated refining and polishing of classical style,thereby ultimately evolving into the ancient meaning in the cursive script,that is,how to grasp the essence from the ancient works while maintaining the personal style.Some fruitful practical experience can be found in Wang Duo's practice of imitating the ancient style. |
