As an important part of urban culture, street music has gained more and more attention in recent years. Before the standardized management of street music in Shanghai, street music activities were banned in most of the domestic cities. In 2014,Shanghai officially began to issue licenses for buskers to street performers in the form of assessments. This article focuses on street music artists and street music activities in Shanghai that are licensed for induction, interviews, participation, and observation. The field trips will first describe and analyze the current status and characteristics of Shanghai street music under the influence of the management system.Up to now, there have been nine batches of street musicians registered in Shanghai for music. They are distributed in Jingan District,Changning District,Hongkou District, and other regions. The performance category mainly involves guitar playing, saxophone performance, and harmonica performance.Through the attention and investigation of such street music phenomenon, the author finds that these street performers need to pass the examination to obtain the qualifications for street performances. They unified the “certificate posts” during the street performance and follow the “timing,fixed-point,and fixed” performances. The model received supervision and management from all walks of life during the performance. The standardization of street music in the relevant management system has formed a special “Shanghai” feature. The author traces the causes and history of this type of street music phenomenon and finds that the city's urban development plan is an important reason for its formation. The assessment and management of buskers also reflect the management's image of the city.Under the influence of the management system,Shanghai street performers who have been licensed to work have acquired the right to perform on the street and are also faced with many restrictions.Under such circumstances, these street performers who have passed the examination began to explore different ways of subsistence.Artists adhere to the "obey the rules" and "self-discipline" street performers' survival methods to stay on the streets, and some artists are unable to adapt to many restrictions.During the street performances, they show some "opposition" actions against the management system, and eventually choose to "escape" management. The street entertainer survives. For the reason, the author analyzes this as a result of the differences in the needs of street performers, the changes in the function of street music, and the maturity of the management system.
