A Practice Report On Textual Cohesion In Translation Of Accountability In Public Policy Partnerships

The most difficult part to handle with in the translation process is the textual cohesion.The understanding of the internal cohesion,external cohesion and cohesion of discourse is the main way to solve the problem of discourse in translation.Especially in political works,due to the frequent occurrence of reproduction,referral,substitution and omission,we should pay attention to analyze the operating mechanism and solutions of textual cohesion and textual coherence in translation when we translate such works.Based on this,this paper chooses Julia Steets' political work ACCOUNTABILITY IN PUBLIC POLICY PARTNERSHIPS as a research case and focuses on the study of textual cohesion in translation.It includes the internal cohesion,external cohesion and the cohesive relations of the discourse.Based on my own translation practice,this paper states on the specific problems and solutions of the textual cohesion in the translation of political works.This paper argues that,in addition to following the language characteristics of political works,in the process of translation,we also need to take the specific problems in the field of textual cohesion seriously,such as the problem of conference and lexical cohesion in textual internal cohesion,the problem of substitution and omission in textual external cohesion.After analyzing and comparing again and again,this paper puts forwards the specific solutions of the above-mentioned problems,the translation method of recurrence and conference,the translation method of blocking,the translation method of encumbrance's omission,the translation method of placeholder substitution.The writer hopes to provide the translation practice which has the same kind of text with experiencing materials.
