The inheritance of local music culture in school music education has been paid much attetion in the field of education in our country.Therefore,this paper chooses Laoting drum,one of the representative folk music in Northern China,as study object.By using the thread of the inheritance of Laoting drum in school,the author has made field studies and in-depth interviews of three schools,discussing the existing problems in those Leting drum inheritage activities.On the basis of the combination of theory and practice,this paper puts forward some thoughts on the inheritance of Laoting drum in school music education.This paper is mainly conducted from the following parts.The first part is introduction,which makes an elaboration about the research background,literature review,methodology and theoretical basis.The first part mainly introduces the cultural origin,evolution,characteristics and cultural values of Laoting drum.The second part,based on the fieldwork of three schools,investigates the status-quo of inheritance of Laoting drum in music education,by means of questionnaires,interviews and classroom records.Considering the second part as grounding work,the third part expounds the educating function of Laoting drum,the feasibility of its inheritance in the school,and the reflection on the status quo of inheritance.Last but not the least,this paper is provided with several suggestions on the inheritance of local music culture in school music education in China.
