| The chivalrous novel of Tang Dynasty is the important ingredient of the knight-errant literature of Tang Dynasty,and is also momentous creation which the literati in the Tang Dynasty had done for chivalrous culture.Comparing the writing about chivalrous swordsman and chivalrous occurrence in the composition of historical biography as well as the poem of glorified chivalrous expert,which emerges that the chivalrous novel of Tang Dynasty not only opens up a wider stage of the ranger,but contains much abundanter chivalric deeds,shapes the image of more richer ranger as well.From the historical biography to the chivalrous novel of Tang Dynasty,the literati in the Tang Dynasty realized the literary sublimation that the image of the ranger turns to the fantasy from the documentary.Meanwhile,the literati of Tang Dynasty also completed the expansion of the ranger in literature and art from the swordsmen-praising poetry to the chivalrous novel.The chivalric vogue prevails in the Tang Dynasty,and the ranger’s activity is extremely common,therefore the chivalrous novel of Tang Dynasty fully shows that the living conditions and the behavior characteristics of the ranger in the Tang Dynasty,but also reflects the social cultural ideological current which influences the novel creation of the author simultaneously.This article attempts to explore the main social and cultural factors that affect the chivalrous novel creation of the Tang Dynasty,and analyze these social and cultural factors how to reflect concretely in the chivalrous novel content of Tang Dynasty,so as to interpret the cultural connotation of the chivalrous novel of Tang Dynasty.The first chapter of this article focuses on the chivalrous novel of Tang Dynasty and the historiographer culture.First of all,it reveals the historical origin relation of the historical biography literature and the chivalrous novel of Tang Dynasty.Secondly,it explores that the historiographer culture impacts on the chivalrous novel of Tang Dynasty in three aspects,namely in the novel theory,the table of contents’ nomenclature and the narrative mode.The chivalrous novel of Tang Dynasty is influenced by the historiographer culture,appearing the pursue to be "with the official history concurrently","chronicle","persuasion" and "elegant words" in the side of novel theory,the table of contents’ nomenclature represents the feature of biography,and the narrative mode centers on the manner of "chronological narrative" of the mainstream in the history-biography literature.The second chapter discusses the influence of the religion of Tang Dynasty on the chivalrous novel of Tang Dynasty.Buddhism,Taoism and folk miscellaneous superstition offers some plot patterns for the chivalrous novel of Tang Dynasty such as "The chivalrous swordsmen kill the ghosts and monsters","The chivalrous swordsmen guard the Dan medicine","Reincarnation,the cause-and-effect transmigration",and "Practice more and become the celestial being",so that prompting the chivalrous novel of Tang Dynasty to be with strong mysterious color.The third chapter investigates the relationship between the chivalrous novel of Tang Dynasty and the commodity economy of Tang Dynasty.The ranger’s survival mode and social behavior is close with the commercial relations in the Tang Dynasty,and the prosperity of commodity economy in the Tang Dynasty provides ample contents and themes to the chivalrous novel of Tang Dynasty,hence it produces the two common plot model as "Hu merchant identifies treasure" and "Bandits rob the merchant".The prosperity of commodity economy also enhances the novel author’s economic concept and stimulates the novel author’s hedonistic consciousness.As for moulding the image of the businessman,the chivalrous novel of Tang Dynasty embodies the tendency of "positive side" and "romanticized".The fourth chapter mainly analyzes the chivalry consciousness and views on woman of the author in the chivalrous novel of Tang Dynasty.The author of the Tang Dynasty’s chivalrous novel puts forward "the chivalry" and "the revenge",and expresses the primitive worship psychological characteristics for the chivalrous swordsman.That emerged a large number of female characters in the chivalrous novel of Tang Dynasty,and it is common to see the plot of "love affairs" and "snatching others’ wives",but the novel content and the author’s attitude all reflects the reality that the female’s status is not high in the entire society in the Tang Dynasty. |
