The author worked as a Chinese teacher at vocational college in Thailand for one year.During this period,the author found that the teaching effect of Chinese in vocabulary was not ideal at vocational college.Therefore,the author collected ten Thai vocational colleges’ information on teaching Chinese vocabulary,and through their own teaching observations and teaching practices,summarizes some of the common problems in teaching vocabulary in Thai vocational colleges,and further analyzes the factors that affect teaching vocabulary effectiveness.Finally,the author proposes some suggestions for teaching Chinese vocabulary in Thai vocational colleges.This article is mainly divided into the following four parts:The first part introduces and analyzes the current situation of teaching Chinese and vocabulary in 10 vocational colleges in Thailand.The situation is not ideal.The vocabulary mastery of students is not good.Although Chinese language are taught for many years,the students’ level of Chinese language is still at a low level.The second part elaborates and analyzes the problems existing in teaching Chinese vocabulary in Thai vocational colleges.In teaching vocabulary content,Thai vocational college teachers pay much more attentions on listening and reading,seldom writing;The vocabulary they taught cannot satisfy students Practitioner needs.In the process of teaching vocabulary,the common problems in Thai vocational colleges are that repeated teaching of vocabulary,poor communication between teachers and students in language,and inactive learning of students.The third part analyzes the causes of teaching vocabulary problems in Thai vocational colleges.The reasons for the vocabulary content in Thai vocational colleges are that the textbooks are not professionally targeted;the vocabulary provided by the school is unreasonable.The reasons for the problems in the teaching process are the large mobility of Chinese teachers in Thai vocational colleges,their frequent replacement,and the untimely handover of teaching work;the low Thai language skills of Chinese teachers;Thai vocational school students are generally tired of classroom learning,and learning attitudes and learning habits are not good.In addition,in other areas,the college’s hardware facilities are not perfect,the college do not fix eyes on Chinese,and the Chinese vocabulary itself is difficult to learn.In the fourth part,aiming at the above problems and reasons,this article attempts to propose methods and strategies that can improve Chinese vocabulary teaching in Thai vocational colleges.Teachers should strengthen Thai language skills and communication skills.Teaching contents should strengthen the teaching of basic and professional vocabulary,and teaching methods.The strategy is based on interest and practicality.
