The language is composed of three elements--pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. Vocabulary is not only the construction materials of language, but also the basic structure of sentence. The word-base is the important symbol to evaluate the language level of language learners. Vocabulary teaching is always play an important role in the second language teaching.Memory strategy is a kind of learning strategies, which plays a positive role in the period of students’ learning and teachers’ teaching. However,the memory strategy frequently be used in English teaching in China. The study of Chinese teaching strategy is still at the beginning, and the research on memory strategy is less.This paper takes Thai college students as the research objects, and conducts vocabulary teaching investigation and teaching design based on memory strategy. From the view of memory strategy, the aim is to look for Chinese vocabulary teaching methods.The first chapter briefly introduces the background and meaning of this topic,the relevant literature review, the research content and the research methods of this paper.The second chapter basically presents related theory basis. This paper states the second language learning strategies, memory strategy theory, and analyses the feasibility of vocabulary teaching strategies used in the vocabulary teaching. At the end of this chapter, we offer some memory methods of Chinese vocabulary based on the characteristics of memory strategy and Chinese. This chapter is a theoretical foundation for the latter parts of the vocabulary memory strategy research and teaching design.The third chapter investigates and analyzes the Chinese vocabulary learning strategies of Thai college students. This survey is divided into three parts:the first part surveys the overall vocabulary learning situation of Thai university students; the second part investigates the employ of Chinese vocabulary memory strategies by means of Likert five scale; the third part surveys the college students’ cognitive style in Thailand. According to the survey, we find that Thai students have their own characteristics in Chinese vocabulary learning period and they use memory strategies frequently and show their preference for some memory strategies. The most students’ cognitive style are filed dependence and visual type. The investigations of this chapter make latter teaching design more specific. The fourth chapter is the overall design of Chinese vocabulary teaching targeted Thai college students. The teaching design chooses "Boya Chinese-basic level Ⅱ" for materials. Before the overall teaching design, this paper analyses the teaching object and teaching content firstly, and presents the principles and the goals of vocabulary teaching. The overall design of vocabulary teaching mainly includes three aspects:teaching time arrangement covered whole teaching materials, the teaching design based on vocabulary memory methods and teaching design based on the classification of the parts of speech.The fifth chapter gives an example of Chinese vocabulary teaching design aimed at Thai studengts.based on memory strategy. This chapter takes lesson35for example, and designs vocabulary teaching of this lesson based on memory strategies.The conclusion part summarizes the whole paper and points out the disadvantages and improving direction of this artical.
