A Study On Arrangement Of Oracle Bone Inscriptions Around Wangcheng

Wangcheng was an important aristocratic leader during the period-Wuding.From the Bin group and Li group inscriptions,it can be seen that the distinguished family had been on friendly terms with Shang Dynasty and often followed King Shang to fight and paid tribute to King Shang.Inscriptions of the same version contained different wars and the time of these conquests and Xiawei’s attacking by Wangcheng was extended in the same timeline.Several tribal leaders involved in the wars and Wangcheng were both serving King Shang so that they can be friend with each other.This paper focuses on “Wangcheng” to links up with the related inscriptions,then sort out and research the inscriptions to comb out “Xiawei’s attacking by Wangcheng”.Meanwhile,we arrange and study some persons and events in the same version of Xiawei’s attacking by Wangcheng oracles to know the background.The introduction part explains reasons for the topic,summarize the history of the study about the oracle inscriptions of Xiawei’s attacking by Wangcheng and then briefly introduce the main content and some innovations in writing.The body part spread from three aspects:the Wangcheng inscriptions from YH127,the kingdoms and characters of the same version,and the arrangement of the divinations about inscriptions of Xiawei’s attacking by Wangcheng.The first part,we analyze 12 big oracle inscriptions with clear words and relatively complete bones from YH127.Then classify them by whether it is a complete set of oracle inscriptions.Among them,there are 4 sets of 9 oracle inscriptions in the complete set.The non-complete set of oracle inscriptions also include the same oracle inscriptions and the single oracle inscriptions.Moreover,we sort out the oracle corpus related to “Jichi” and “Kingdom Long”.The second part analyzes two aspects of kingdoms and characters in the same version.First,we select the kingdoms of Ba,Yi and Tu,which are the same version with Xiawei’s attacking by Wangcheng.We comb the background corpus of these kingdoms’ wars during Xiawei’s attacking by Wangcheng and analyze the military deployment of King Shang and the time sequence of the campaign during this period.Then we select the characters that are seen in the same version of Xiawei’s attacking by Wangcheng,including Zhige,Hougao,Xi,etc.We comb the characters’ information by collecting relevant corpus of these characters.The third part we get conclusion.Through the first chapter of the material and the second chapter of the inscriptions’ arrangement and research,we arrange the “Xiawei’s attacking by Wangcheng”.According to the date about Xiawei’s attacking by Wangcheng and others’ inscriptions,we arrange the event of “Xiawei’s attacking by Wangcheng”.It is estimated that the divination time of attacking Xiawei is more than one year,the time of attacking Xiawei is about at the late middle of period-Wuding.
