China has undergone earth-shaking changes since the founding. From 1949 to 1965,socialist transformation was carried out, then the state-owned economy and collective economy dominated the public-owned economy, together with the product distribution system which based on labor distribution.A series of major reforms were carried out on the education system; From 1966 to 1977,during the Great Cultural Revolution, endless ideological struggles was carried out accompany with personality cult, and the country, society, and collectivism was badly emphasized. From 1978 to 1991,college entrance examination system was recovered, and the issue of “truth standards”was intensely discussed, reform and opening-up was put into practice. From 1992 to 2007,South Tour Speech and the 14 th CPC National Congress established in-depth institutional reforms and accelerated the construction of socialist market economy. In the late 1990 s,colleges and universities enrolled students and graduate distribution system was reformed. In the major reforms, the state implemented the system of paying fees to school in 1997,the reform of the college entrance examination in 1998,and the large-scale expansion of colleges and universities in 1999.In 2001,China successfully joined the WTO;since 2008,the Internet has changed people’s way of thinking, behavior, and way of life, and a series of new problems were emerged.Changes in each stage will lead to changes in the college students’ values. This article analyzes the changes in each stage of social change and its impact on values, and hopes to put forward some new valuable education ideas. This article is divided into two studies.Study 1 is to investigate the contemporary college students’ values, and analyze the general characteristics of college students’ values, and the characteristics of different family locations, whether they are only children, different genders, different grades, and different types of major. The research found that in the terminal values,“family safety”,“happines” and“liberty” all ranked in the top four,“wise” and “salvation” were the last two;in instrumental values,“independent” and “integrity” are ranked in the top four.“Beloved”,“Clean” and “Submissive” all rank in the last four places, indicating that these values are relatively stable.Through the analysis of demographic variables,we found that besides the location of the family, whether the only child, gender, grade, type of major, etc.have a certain impact on values. Therefore, when conducting values education,it is necessary to consider college students’ characteristics of whether the only child, gender, grade, and the type of major.Study 2 is to investigate the college students’ values in different stages of social changes. The survey found that the values of undergraduates in different periods are gradually changing along with social changes. This shows that social changes deeply affect values, and that in the process of values education,we must pay attention to the major changes that have taken place in society.
