A Practice Report On The Simulated Simultaneous Interpretation For Product Launch

This English-Chinese simultaneous interpretation task selects the 2017 "OnePlus 5" overseas launch as the material.As a mobile phone brand that has emerged in recent years,OnePlus has a high reputation both at home and abroad.In this launch,OnePlus technology releases the latest flagship "OnePlus 5" and its peripheral products.The main speakers are five,who speak fluently and at a fast pace;The non-main speakers are ten,whose speech are highly colloquial,and some of them are non-native English speakers with a nonstandard pronunciation.The launch mainly focuses on five aspects of design,camera,charging,smooth experience and operating system.It involves a lot of technical vocabulary.This report is based on interpretive theory and analyzes the interpretation from the language level.In this practice task,interpreting strategies such as syntactic linearity,addition and reduction have been successfully applied to ensure interpretation quality.There are also problems such as misinterpretation,omission and so on.There are three reasons for these problems.The first reason is the lack of linguistic knowledge,logic of sentences and vocabulary.The second reason is tiredness.The third reason is some speakers' English pronunciation is not standard enough,which makes it difficult to obtain information.This interpretation practice task has the following implications for translators:It is necessary to consult relevant information,professional vocabulary and professional knowledge before interpretation;It is important to improve the bilingual ability of English and Chinese,and strengthen the accumulation of encyclopedic knowledge;It is significant to master the commonly used interpreting strategies such as syntactic linearity,addition,reduction etc.and apply them in the interpretation.
