From Fields To Stage-Exploration Of The Adaptation And Singing Of Marriage Song

As a stage-performing work of art produced on the basis of wedding wailing song of Tujia nationality,the Marriage Song is created by local lyricist Peng Menglin of Tujia in the west of Hunan Province.During singing the Marriage Song,it is needed to trace the roots of wedding wailing culture between the fields to better understand the singing features of wedding wailing songs.Among the music elements of the Marriage Song,though the basic features of wedding wailing songs have been maintained from the perspective of application of life language,grasp of modal tonality and singing form,lack of original local flavor in its great artistry exists from the perspective of whole work appreciation.There are still some differences in the staged wailing marriage customs and music.Most importantly,it is very difficult to express the “wailing tone” in wedding wailing songs in an artistic way.Therefore,the author makes bold attempts to adapt the original voice and integrate it into the Marriage Song.The patchwork and adaptation of the work sublimates the work,helps singers to understand its cultural background and facilitates their better interpretation of the work as well.
