Lexical chunks are the combination of grammar,semantics and context,and the form is relatively fixed.Lexical chunks approach has gradually entered the vision of language teaching researchers in recent years.However,the research on how to infiltrate lexical chunks into the process of writing teaching is still insufficient.Based on the theory of lexical chunks,lexical chunks approach is applied in this study with a purpose for junior high school students to develop their English writing skills in a limited period of time.In order to explore the feasibility and effectiveness of applying lexical chunks theory to writing teaching in junior high school,this study explored the following two questions:1.Can the application of lexical chunks improve students' attitude towards English writing learning ?2.Can lexical chunks approach improve students' writing scores?The experiment involved two classes in No.12 junior high school in Jinzhou,Liaoning province.Two randomly selected classes were set as the control class and experimental class.Forty-two students in the control class used the traditional teaching model,and forty-three students in the experimental class used the lexical chunk theory teaching method.Except for the two different teaching models,the two classes were in the same external learning conditions.In the experiment,the subjects were asked to take the pre-test,post-test and two questionnaires respectively.After the experiment,by means of choosing4 students to do the interview randomly and the help of Spss19.0,the scientific qualitative and quantitative analysis of data was completed in order to understand students' thoughts about the application of the approach.The research results of the data in the EC showed that the mean score of pre-test and post-test were respectively 9.81 and 12.25,and the value of Sig.(2-tailed)was 0.000,which indicated that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and the post-test in the EC's writing scores.Therefore,in junior high schools' English writing teaching,the application of lexical chunks approach can not only improve students' attitude towards English writing learning but also improve students' writing scores.What's more,it is hoped that the development of this experimental study can play a guiding role for other researchers,and thus more English teachers will be expected to apply the lexical chunks approach in their writing teaching.
