Study On Seal Cuting Art Of Xu Rong

Xu Rong was the leader in the early Ding Dynasty,the punching knife method and the cutting tool were first proposed by Xu Rong.He has many outstanding contributions in the history of seal cutting,This paper studies the art of Xu Rong seal cutting from four aspects.The first part is the re-prove of Xu Rong's courtesy name(zi)and pseudonym(hao),which leads to the conclusion is:the courtesy name of Xu Rong is Shifu and the pseudonym(hao)is Mogong,in order to correct the shortcomings of the current related research.The second is the research on the theory of Xu Rong's knife method.By comparing with the knife method in the past dynasties,the author makes clear the development pulse of the successive generations and points out its aesthetic appearance.The third is the study on the characteristics of the art and the formation of the seal styles.And studis on seal cutting by statistical methods.Finally,following by Gu Yuan Seal Book",it is not the seal cutting in the history of the earliest complete poem into seals,but choose part of the content of Zhang Yutian “mountain baiyun”.Through the four parts of the study,we can have a more comprehensive understanding.
