Study on the industrial revolution has always been a hot subject.Although many macroscopic and microscopic researches have been made on the causes of the industrial revolution, economists rarely mentioned the influence of culture on the industrial revolution in previous studies. In recent 10 years, western economists have begun to pay attention to the important role of culture played in the development process of economy. The book A Culture of Growth: The Origins of the Modern Economy combines economics, the history of science and technology and the model of cultural evolution for the first time confirming the decisive role of culture(that is beliefs, values and preferences)in shaping social change with groundbreaking significance. Thus,it is worth of analyzing the E-C translation of A Culture of Growth: The Origins of the Modern Economy. This paper is a study report of translation practice.Based on the translations of the first two chapters of the first part of the book A Culture of Growth: The Origins of the Modern Economy, the report analyzes and discusses the guidance of the German Functionalist Skopos theory on the translation of texts in this economic history. The three rules of Skopos Theory have always existed throughout the whole process of translation practice.Furthermore,by the actual cases in translation, the author analyzes the translation text from vocabulary, syntax and discourse and explores the methods and strategies in dealing with specific terms, long sentences and overall arrangement of the article used in the translation to prove the feasibility of Skopos Theory on the economic history texts translation. In the process of economic history texts translation, translators can use the three rules of Skopos Theory as theoretical guidance and choose translation methods and strategies flexibly according to the expected translation goals to be achieved in translation so as to accurately convey the source text and author's intentions. Finally, the author summarizes the experience of this translation practice aiming to provide some theoretical inspiration and methodological guidance in the same type of text translation.
