| With the development of artificial intelligence,online-instant machine system reveals its advantage in saving time and labour cost from heavy translation works.While the outputs of machine systems still have lots of defects which can not satisfy the high quality requirement of translation tasks,like publishing.Therefore,post-editing is very necessary in improving the outputs of MT and saving translators,time and efforts.This translation project takes The Defense Industrial Base as translation materials,and I am responsible for the translation of Introduction and Chapter 1.This project aims to improve the understanding of defense texts in China and provide possible translation strategies for these texts.In this project,machine translation post-editing is adopted as the major translation mode.The problems or errors of machine translation mainly include the wrong translation of terms and defense related words;disorder and wrong arrangement of sentence structure;Lack of readability and textual features in textual styles.During the post-editing process,the author can fully consider the sponsor's requirement and receivers' expectation,combining his translation experience and skills to improve the outputs of machine translation,in the light of Skopostheorie.Concrete steps include:Building term bank and searching professional websites to ensure the correction of words translation;Adjusting word order and simplifying long and complicated sentences to improve the readability and coherence of these sentences;Comparing the expressions of the source and target text and analyzing the language styles of related parallel texts to improve the standardization of language expression and the fidelity in textual style.This project surely improved the author's abilities in language expression and post-editing,and deepened his understanding about defense text and defense related knowledge.This report also aims to provide a reference for the translation and research of defense texts in China. |
