After the establishment of the Ming Dynasty,YuanzhangZhu attached great importance to the cultivation and selection of talents.He not only set up schools,developed education,but also implemented various selection methods for different talents throughout the country.The Selecttribute system which was away of selecting talents was firstly established in the Ming Dynasty.Summarizing the experience and lessons of previous talent selection measures,the rulers of the Ming Dynasty created the Select-tribute system which combined the local official schools and the Imperial College,associated school students with Officials cultivate.The Select-tribute system in the Ming Dynasty referred to the system that the provincial educational officialsselected outstanding students from all Confucian schools to sent to the Ministry of Rites,after being tested by Hanlin Academy,the students who passed the exam can be enrolled in the Imperial College to get an education.In the early Ming Dynasty,the rulers used the previoussystems for reference,then through remoulding and developing,They began to implement this system in Hongwu eighteen-year(1385).Since then,they have continued to enrich and made it perfect.The establishment of the select-tribute system was mainly to meet some special requirements of talents selecting in some remote areas at the beginning.It was a unique and not universal selection method.In the early years of Zhengtong,it began to form a procedure which regarded performance as the standard.During the period of Hongzhi,due to the decline in the quality of the students,and the demand for talents,the rulers began to attach importance to the select-tribute system.However,due to the prosperity of the Imperial Examination system and the conflict of interests between the select-tribute system and the year-tribute system,the Selecttribute system experienced ups and downs.The selection of Select-tribute students was rather special.First of all,the selection scope of students was more extensive.As long as their identities were students,theycould participate in the selection of Select-tribute students.Because the Select-tribute students wereselect from exams,so the quality of then were generally higher.More of them were talented,and their career prospects were more clear.Butbecause of the worship to the Imperial Examination in the middle and late Ming Dynasty,a large number of Select-tribute students were willing to step to official career through the Imperial Examination way not as a Select-tribute student.Theselect-tribute students in the Ming Dynasty had extremely influences in politics,economy,culture and other aspects,which also directly affected the formation and development of the Bagong system of the Qing Dynasty.
