A Research On Absurd Writing In Rural Theme Novels At The Turn Of The Century

Rural-themed novels occupy an important position in the history of Chinese literature in the 20th century.From the middle of the 1990s to the beginning of the 21st century,the development of the market economy has intensified the conflicts between urban and rural areas.The conflicts between rural and urban cultures,traditional and modern civilizations are unprecedentedly fierce.The literary world truly feels the various social contradictions and the crisis of modernity.The transformation of Chinese literature has become an indisputable fact.The paper thus revolves around this "new change" which is the intensive use of absurd techniques in the creation of rural novels at the turn of the century to reintegrate the new "local experience".This paper is based on the close reading of the text,combined with the theory of absurdism.It tries hard to grasp the new atmosphere of the rural theme novels in transition difficulties,to show the absurd features of rural novels at the turn of the century,to dig out the social psychological and ideological characteristics reflected in the absurd writing and to explore the artistic and spiritual values of absurd aesthetics.On the one hand,the absurd writing in rural-themed novels at the turn of the century has enriched the absurd art forms,liberated the text,resisted the rational attitude,and deconstructed the traditional narrative methods in many aspects,mainly manifested in the narrative structure,character modeling,and language application.The narrative logic is free from the constraints of the antecedents and the storyline circumvents the time structure of the rationality.The event is also disassembled from the time chain as far as possible.At the same time,the writers set limits on the physical and psychological alienation of the characters.A bit of peasants dragging a disabled body and degrading humanity was abandoned on the edge of the world.Language is given the greatest degree of freedom.The language of the characters,along with the language of the text,has escaped the inherent language system.The signifier and the signification have been broken.The communication between the characters and characters,the text and the readers has been blocked,reflecting the rational incompetence.On the other hand,absurd writing also realizes the organic combination of the expressions and ideological content of rural subject novels.The native writerscompleted the presentation of the senselessness of existence and the sense of loneliness in life.First of all,they deliberately highlight the dilemma of failure of peasant rationality in the face of disability and death.The existence and value of the peasant were forced to separate,leading to the demise of the meaning of existence.Second,because of the demise of meaning,the individual cannot obtain self-contentment,leaving the peasant into a deep sense of loneliness.Whether it is the meaninglessness of survival or the sense of loneliness in rural life,it reflects the absurd consciousness contained in rural-themed novels.With a hint of fatalism,they point to the ultimate concern for the limits of human reason.Although absurdity is bizarre and meaningless,it is the struggle of bounded rationality and bitter laughter.However,in the absurd writing of rural subject novels at the turn of the century,the writer's wisdom and their unremitting pursuit of truth and significance are everywhere.Therefore,first,the meaning of absurd writing by local writers is close to the inner reality.Although on the surface,absurdity is a true departure,the uncovering of absurd texts does not prevent the presentation of realistic feelings in rural life,but it helps to express the inner reality under the cover of appearances,and more effectively conveys the true feelings of local writers on life.Second,to some extent,it has strengthened the critique of rural-themed novels.By digging deep into the inner reality,the breadth and depth of criticism has been expanded,and local writers have realized a further inquiry into the problems of rural society and human beings in the free narrative space.
