In recent years,the development momentum of Chinese documentary films has gradually increased.The documentary market has become increasingly active.The market structure has gradually improved.The scope of documentary coverage has expanded.The audience base has gradually increased.And overseas distribution has also shown good momentum.However,it is undeniable that all aspects of the Chinese documentary film market have not yet been fully activated and a mature and complete market system has not yet formed,especially when we compare the Chinese documentary film market with the world documentary countries such as the United States,Britain,France and Japan.Under the background of policy support and market promotion with great cultural development and prosperity,Chinese documentaries have a huge space for development.How can we build a perfect Chinese documentary market structure,shorten the gap with other countries,and expand the impact of Chinese documentaries on a global scale Force?It is an important issue when we are facing the development of China’ s documentary film market.As an important part of the documentary market,the audience has shown great economic value,humanistic value as well as social value during the development of the documentary.Based on the summary of the documentary history and development practice,this topic chooses to study from the perspective of the audience.The Likert scale was used to compile the questionnaire.This topic use mathematical analysis ways included cluster analysis,descriptive analysis,cross-analysis and correlation to analyze the aesthetic requirements,viewing behaviors and consumption choices of documentary audiences.Through analysis and research,it is found that the audience of our country’ s documentaries is weak.And the awareness of documentaries is low.And the consumer behavior habits have not yet been formed.The audience’s aesthetic demand for documentary films is relatively stable.Also viewing habits of the audiences are greatly affected by word-of-mouth marketing.Considering the documentary development practice and questionnaire survey results,this topic proposes a documentary film market development strategy which focuses on the audience It includes:We can establish the concept of audience-based,nurture the audience base on audience portraits,use the methods of establishing cultural identity and cultivate foreign audiences to build a domestic and foreign documentary audience base.Meanwhile we should focus on audience viewing channels.In order to pursuit the biggest effect of the documentary positioning,we should choose the suitable distribution strategy.Last but not least,we can use of entertainment tendencies to create the documentary films,increase the weight of content development and take IP brand construction as well as other measures to stimulate the audience’s market spending power.
