Research Of Wenchang God In The Song Dynasty

From the beginning of the founding of the Song dynasty,"beat swords into plowshares" was a basic national policy,the formulation of the national policy and perform more directly contributed to the situation of song dynasty "civil administration",which sprout from the imperial examination system in the late northern and southern dynasties following the political atmosphere and having perfected gradually.Although this is determined by the historical situation at that time,and related to purpose and interests of the rule of the supreme ruler.But it objectively promoted a large number of scholars of Confucianism,especially in official career,to the top by Confucianism.After determining the value of the individual pursuit,in order to ensure to achieve maximum benefit,the scholars often make their efforts,and always creating courageously and skilfully,even wish for protection from the gods.The prosperity of Wenchang and Wenchang culture in song dynasty was well-timed,and the study of the faith of Wenchang in song dynasty was also a must.This article discuss Wenchang belief in Song dynasty through the following several parts :the first part mainly introduces the related Wenchang beliefs and more representative gods,including Wenchang god,Zitong and Kuixing god,on the basis of summarizing historical origin and analysing the relationship between them.The second part analyzes the relationship between the faith of Wenchang and Taoism,and focuses on the special existence of the children of Wenchang god,who is deaf in the meantime.The third part discusses the interaction betweenWenchang belief and the imperial government of the Song dynasty,including the seal,the temple,the worship and other activities.The fourth part is the social function of Wenchang faith in Song dynasty on the whole,which shows the speed and secularization of Wenchang belief,and the influence on personal values and the integration with the national.Through a series of discussion and research,I hope to understand Wenchang belief of song dynasty intuitively,moreover deepen the understanding of social reality,ideology and political system and so on during the period of Song dynasty.
