This translation project report is based upon the author’s translation practice of the first five papers of International Encyclopedia of Education(3rd Edition),and upon the cognitive semantic theory. These papers are not only of the academic text with strong professionalism but also of practical guidance for education. Therefore, the focus of this report is to discuss the application of five translation strategies with the reference to the cognitive semantic theory,--the strategies including shift, transposition, addition, omission and division. The author hopes that this report will be of reference to the subsequent translation of academic text. This whole report is divided into five parts. The first part is an overall description of the translation project, including the background of the project translation, the objective that the author wants to achieve, and the theoretical and practical significance of the project. The second part is the analysis of the source text, which introduces the main content and particularly analyzes the characteristics of the source text from the text type and language features. The third part mainly discusses the translation process combined with case analysis under the guidance of cognitive semantic theory. The fourth part discusses how to use translation strategies to polish the target text and ensure the quality of target text. The fifth part is the conclusion of the report, which tries to make an in-depth analysis and a profound introspection ofthe whole translation project, and to draw some lessons in her own translation practice, and to point out some problems to be solved.
