Located in the integration of economic zone of South China,the southwest economic zone and the Guangxi-ASEAN Economic and Technological Development Zone,Beibu Gulf Economic Zone is the only coastal area in the Western Development,and also an area that enjoys both sea channel and land bordering areas with ASEAN countries,which has obvious location advantages and prominent strategic position.China pays close attention to the development and publicity of the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone.Thus,it is especially important to translate the publicity material of the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone to the outside world.This report is a Chinese to English Translation report about Beibu Gulf Economic Zone Brochure.It belongs to the brochure translation of publicity translation of non-literary translation.The translation report mainly records the whole process of translation of Beibu Gulf Economic Zone Brochure and focuses on the typical problems encountered in translation,such as the translation of expressions with Chinese characteristics,loose sentences and policy terms.Skopos Theory,German functionalist approaches,is applied during the translation to figure out some solutions to those problems.Translation experience is finally refined from those translation skills.The translator has an initial master of the text characteristics and its translation strategies about publicity texts such as Beibu Gulf Economic Zone brochure.The report sums up relevant translation strategies and techniques,at the same time,the translator sums up many useful experience from translation process,guided by Skopos Theory,hope this report can provide some new ideas to other translators.
