To further promote its so-called "mainland policy," the Japanese imperialists deliberately expanded the war of aggression against China. In 1937,the Japanese imperialists launched the July 7th Incident July and the August 13 th Incident in Shanghai.Japan's all-out war of aggression not only brought deep disasters to the Chinese people, but also brought disasters to the western nationals in China such as the United States, etc. This article mainly focuses on the American nationals in Shanghai and Nanjing, summarizes and analyzes Japan's infringement on the rights and interests of American nationals from 1937 to 1941,discusses the Japan-US negotiation of perfect treatment and the response of the United States, and explores the characteristics and impact of negotiations between Japan and the United States on the rehabilitation of the rights and interests of American nationals in China as well as the subtle changes in the U.S.-Japan relations at this stage. This dissertation is divided into three parts: the introduction, the text, the conclusion, the text includes the second, third, fourth and fifth chapter:The first chapter is the introduction, which introduces the research object and significance of the thesis, research status, methods, innovations and shortcomings. The second chapter mainly elaborates the situation in the Far East and China before and after the Marco Polo Bridge Incident in 1937 from both macroscopic and microcosmic aspects, including the grim situation in the Far East and China, especially Shanghai-Nanjing,as well as the profiles of American nationals in Shanghai and Nanjing. The third chapter discusses the Japanese infringement on the rights and interests of American residents in Shanghai and Nanjing from 1937 to 1941.It mainly discusses from four aspects: the destruction and looting of the American nationals' property;the limitation and attack on the American nationals;the "mistaken" military attack;and the disruption and sabotage of the rescue of American refugees who live in China. The fourth chapter discusses the U.S.substantive response to the rights and interests of American nationals in China. In the face of the infringement on the rights and interests of American nationals in China, the U.S.government had taken the substantive approach of withdrawing American nationals in China in addition to negotiating with Japan through diplomatic channels. The fifth chapter mainly discusses the characteristics and influence of the Japan-US negotiations of rehabilitation on the rights and interests of the American nationals. The last part concludes with an account of Japan's infringement on the rights and interests of American nationals in Shanghai and Nanjing and an in-depth analysis of Japan-US negotiations of rehabilitation to reveal the subtle changes in Japan-US relations and the inevitability of the Pacific War,in the meantime,it proves form one side that the Japanese crimes of aggression against China are beyond doubt, including Nanking Massacre, which is another perspective of the study of the history of Anti-Japanese war.
