"Altar Scripture" was said by the master Hui Neng,the Sixth Patriarch,and was written by his disciple Fahai.It has played a pivotal role in the history of Chinese Buddhism.Since then,China has had its own authentic Buddhism."Altar Scripture" is not only a Chinese-style inheritance of Indian Buddhism,but also a Chinese-style reform of Indian Buddhism.The ultimate moral principles of Buddhism are not possible to express in words.From the perspective of linguistics,the paper attempts to explore how the Altar Scripture expresses this Unspeakable and unsayable thing.Because of the large number of versions of the Altar Scripture,after comparison of various versions,the Zongbaoben Altar Scripture was selected as the corpus of this article.Due to the detailed contents of Zongbaoben,it can better reflect the characteristics of Zen language,and it is also the most popular edition in China.Based on the predecessor's research,the paper combines Zen and language organically,and analyzes the language of the Altar Scripture based on linguistics.This article is divided into five parts.The first part is an introduction,which summarizes the reasons and significance of the study of language expressions in the Altar Scripture,and elaborates on the research methods of the language expression of the Altar Scripture.Finally,it summarized the Zen language and research results of the Altar Scripture,and briefly introduced the research significance,research methods and the selection of corpus.The second part is the expression and classification of the language of the Altar Scripture.It mainly expresses and classifies the language of Altar Scripture from the content,and elaborates the characteristics of such language from the perspective of linguistics.In this paper,the expression and classification of the "Altar Scripture" language are more detailed on the basis of previous studies.The third part mainly studied the specific expression strategies for special language of the Altar Scripture.It is mainly elaborated in five aspects: keen words,negation,jealousy,metaphor,and koan.The fourth part is a linguistic interpretation of the expression of the Altar Scripture from the perspective of linguistics.It mainly analyzes from the perspective of deconstruction language,speech act theory and the cognition of communication subject.The fifth part is the conclusion,which is a summary and discussion of the research of this paper.
