Liang Ji lived in the end of the Qing Dynasty.He served in the cabinet in the late Qing Dynasty.He was transferred to the police department and the ministry of civil affairs.As an ordinary Beijing official,he advocated reform before the Reform Movement of 1898.During the Yihetuan Movement,he tried to persuade the police to arrest the people and restore order to the city.After the Eight-Power Allied Forces entered Beijing,officials scrambled to flee,but he stayed.He withdrew from officialdom at the downfall of Qing Dynasty.He retained his love for the monarchy,but was also in favor of the republic.In order to open up people's wisdom and custom,he did his best to support his friend's newspapers and school.As scholars of traditional beneficence who have been deeply influenced by Confucianism,before the imperial abolished,he sent his children to the new school to study science and English,and not forced them to learn The Four Books and The Five Classics as their primers.He said that he is loyal to the Qing Dynasty,but he was full of expectation for the Republic of China,and he has made great contributions to the development of new education and new drama.As an old-style scholar with Confucian ethics as his spiritual belief,Liang Ji also advocated women's rights and a lot of new educationalists.In the face of the drastic change of society and times and the fracture of culture and order,he made up for his spiritual belief by taking the Confucian moral code into the universal law of the human world.It makes Liang Ji's heart full of pain that is the collapse of the traditional ethical order and political order chaos in the Republic of China,and the resulting in the real world of moral,political corruption,the untold suffering to people.He tried to change or influence on the reality in the classic way of cultivate one's morality,but got the opposite of what he wants,what hehave learned and the youth impressed deeply in his brain still summon his action,the ideal and the socialism cannot fail and the real world of helpless as well as the two each other constantly pulling and tore torsion.Eventually,it makes Liang Ji suicide to respond to the reality.I will combine Liang Ji's thought deeply and comprehensively,push the time change macro lens close to individual life and the microcosmic surface in the heart of the world to re-examine "transition period",to know the common knowledge people(people with similar ideas like that in lower knowledge is not a few)facing the collapse of the thoughts and beliefs,through conflict and difficult to complete the cicada,the complexity of their faces,process and state of mind.The inner dilemma of Liang Ji's thought and the complex face tell us that the "new" and "old" of the intellectuals in the transition period of modern China are not easily divided.In the face of the changing of times and social order,the collapse of old morals and the absence of new morals make morality as a social order of centripetal force.In the face of such difficulties,it does not mean that the failure of the knowledge person to complete cicada or cicada's failure does not mean that it should be ignored.On the contrary,the ideological transformation of modern China itself is difficult to be identified with success.Even in the present,the internal dilemma of moral conservatism has not been able to achieve cicada slough.
