With the acceleration of the globalization,the links among all countries in the world become much closer and the tourist industry also plays a much more important role in the economic development.Since the the reform and opening-up policy was adopted,foreign tourists have known more about China,which has had abundant resources,and more and more foreign visitors have yearned for beautiful views in China.The quality of the translation of tourist promotion materials is important because they are not only the significant bridge between different languages,but also the vital media to spread Chinese culture.Good translation can attract foreign tourists,so it can promote the development of Chinese tourist industry and economy.“The Landscapes in Guilin are the best around the world”.Guangxi boasts many famous scenic spots which are familiar to many Chinese tourists and the author intentionally selects Beautiful Guangxi,which contains many photos of beautiful views and poetic words.To recommend foreign tourists more beautiful views in Guangxi,it is better to translate this book from the perspective of Adaptation Theory.Adaptation Theory of Verschueren is renowned at home and abroad.And the three properties of language and the four angles of investigation are also familiar to many people.With the introduction of the theory to China,it has been applied to many fields,including the field of translation.Therefore,this theory can be used to guide translation practice.The report is a Chinese-English Translation about tourist promotion materials in accordance with Adaptation Theory,and some excerpts from Beautiful Guangxi are translated into English.This report is divided into five parts: the first part introduces the background of the report,the analysis of the text,the purposes and significance of the report;the second part mainly describes the present investigation of Adaptation Theory at home and abroad and studies about the application to translation field;the third part is the framework of the theory,chiefly recommending Adaptation Theory,including the three properties and the four angles of investigation;the fourth part focuses on the guidance of the theory towards the translation activity through the studies of the cases from the text;the fifth part is the conclusion of this translationactivity and summarizes some findings,reflections and suggestions about future translation activities of this activity.It is expected that this thesis can give more examples and suggestions for the translation study in future.
