Translation Strategies On Legal Literature Criticism

This report concluded from the translation of a commentary on legal literature,which is of practical significance to the interdisciplinary study of law and literature.As a literary criticism,this book,Narrating the Prison: Role and Representation in Charles Dickens' Novels,Twentieth-Century Fiction,and Film,has the guiding function of the general literary criticism,the first chapter of which also combines a large number of knowledge of legal history.And from the perspectives of literature and law,this chapter reveals some characteristics which are hard to find in general legal texts,and the background of Legal history in this text also makes difficulties for translating relevant terms.So it has a certain value of translation.From the perspective of translation,first of all,there are a lot of legal and historical terms,and some of them could be confused in all kinds of texts.The author intends to unify these terms,such as different types of prisons.The translation of legal terms can help us clarify the composition of the British prison system.Secondly,the legal provisions in the text and the content of literary narration show very different styles.Thus the author needs to take different translation strategies.And the author mainly analyzes this from the syntactic translation.Finally,the experience and lessons of translation practice are summarized.
