Abstract/Summary:
Since the diplomatic relations developed in the year of 1950,communication between China and India has met its highs and lows.With the arrival of 21st century,Peace and Development become the themes of our times.The economic and cultural communication between two countries has enhanced and the demand of Chinese talent in India has increased accordingly.When we look at history,In 1937,the establishment of the Chinese Institute in Visva-Bharati University marked the beginning of systematical,formal Chinese language education,and since then the amount of Chinese learners in India that were willing to study Chinese through different channel was getting bigger and bigger.And due to the growing number of which,the problems occurred in the Chinese language teaching process have also increased.Studying in the post-graduate school,the author has made acquaintance with a group of Indian students who majored in Chinese language from Chinese department in one of the Indian university and found that:the pronunciation errors they made were similar to each other and they showed a degree of commonality.When they pronounce the unique groups of Chinese initials,such as dental initial group,the biased errors and fossilization occurred frequently.Based on the theory of comparison study and Inter-language,after collecting the sufficient samples,this paper tries to use the comparative analysis and experimental phonetic knowledge to study the phenomenon thoroughly,and thus explains reasons.In the introduction,the author firstly states the purpose and background of the research and find the possible reason behind foreign students’ error.The differences between the phonetic systems of two languages caused many errors.In the first chapter,the author compares the consonant systems between mandarin and Hindi,then find out the specific characters of two systems.Inthe second chapter,the author uses the data and results in the previous research and discusses the learned pronunciation errors from Indian college students.In third chapter,the author used phonetic experiment software to analyze the fossilization phenomenon and proved the existence of the fossilization.In the fourth chapter,the author gives teaching suggestions to the pronunciation problems found in the research.
