With the rapid development of China-India relations and further deepening of cooperation between the two countries as well as the continuous development of the One Belt and Road Initiative,India is paying more attention to Chinese education.Recently colleges and universities in India have introduced some Chinese courses, which has played a major role in the promotion of Chinese education in India. In the process of learning Chinese, phonetic teaching is the most basic requirement. The main purpose of teaching Chinese language pronunciation as a foreign language is to cultivate learners’ communicative skill in the second language acquisition.Without a good pronunciation, they can’t communicate smoothly with people. Therefore,it is particularly very important to have a good command of Chinese pronunciation.Based on the comparison of Chinese and Hindi, this thesis researched about the pronunciation errors in consonant, vowel and intonation in Chinese phonetic learning of Indian primary students. In this study,30 students from the Department of Chinese language,Central University of Jharkhand were chosen as the subject of the research.During the course of teaching, questionnaire survey, interview and comparative analysis are used as research methods. Finally, the following conclusions are drawn. In the comparison of Chinese and Indian phonetics, due to the influence of interlingual transfer and intralingual transfer, the phonetic errors of Indian students are mainly in the retroglossal sound.zh [t ?],ch [t ??],sh [?],r [?] is the group of initials with the highest error rate among Indian students.Because there is no similar pronunciation in Hindi, which makes it difficult for most of the Indian students to pronounce these syllables in their study. In addition, students will have the opposite pronunciation on the double lip sounds b and p.they will read b [p] as[p ’],p [p’] as [p],because in Hindi and English, the pronunciation b[p] is [p’] and p [b],p [p’ ] is [b],that is to say,the negative transfer of the second language occurs. In the final, the errors are mainly found in u,e,-I,ou and u e,u an and u n.In addition to the negative transfer of the second language, the pronunciation of e [?]will become e [i:] in English, and the negative transfer of the target language.Influenced by the pronunciation of Chinese Pinyin, the pronunciation of [t ? ’y] will become [t ?’ u].The negative transfer of mother tongue has the greatest influence on tone.In Hindi, the meaning of a word is not distinguished by tone,so Indian students tend to make mistakes in their pronunciation. There is a situation that Chinese tone cannot be delivered,or can not go up or down.Another reason for occurring errors are the Indian teachers themselves are not able to pronounce the tone correctly. To conclude, the problem of Indian students’ phonetic errors is triggered by negative transfer of mother tongue, target language and second language.According to the above situation, the author finally puts forward some corresponding countermeasures to correct the problems in Indian students’ pronunciation and learning according to different reasons, hoping to improve the teaching level of Indian Chinese pronunciation through the comparative analysis of Chinese and Hindi pronunciation. |
