The Effect Of Smiling On Male Facial Attractiveness For Short- And Long-Term Relationships

Every day we are in contact with a variety of faces.In daily life,people pay more attention to people who have beautiful faces.Therefore,preference the attractive face has become a issue that researchers concern about.According to Patzer(1985),facial attractiveness refers to a positive and happy face induced targets the emotional experience,and drive others generated close to the degree of willingness.Facial attractiveness has two main factors,the observer and the owner faces factors.This study attempts to understand the interaction effect of two factors of facial attractiveness.The smile can improve female facial attractiveness,and the results of this study for men is uncertain,so the study 1 intends to investigate the relationship of different background smile on male facial attractiveness effects.Study 2 try to analyze the relationship of different background,face smile on male traits influence facial attractiveness effect.On this basis,study 3 research the application of eye tracking technology,record and analyze the relationship between background,eye movement characteristics of three kinds of effects on male traits face smile facial attractiveness.Study 1 uses male face material,selected 40 female college students,the subjects were divided into long-term and short-term relationship between group,participants were asked to score for the attraction of male images.The results show that the longterm under the background of the subjects think smiling male faces more attractive,and the short-term under the background of the subjects think neutral male faces more attractive.Study 2 selected 90 female college students,each group of 30 people,were evaluated for male faces masculine,maturity and sense of trust.The results found that female subjects think the higher trust in the evaluation of smiling face,that neutral faces more manly and mature.Study 3 used eye analysis techniques,understanding the differences of eye movements between subjects of different evaluation traits.The results showed that the long-term face under the background of the subjects in the view of male faces,stare longer than the short-term background subjects,back depending on the number of more short-term,background of the subjects in the theory to determine which traits,always follow the eye gaze in the longest time,next is the nose,mouth parts in the shortest time and gaze,long-term background subjects have differences in the judgment of the three qualities.In summary,this study found that the owners face factors and observer influence factors of facial attractiveness will interact,in the judgment of facial attractiveness when interaction by evaluating factors and the factors in the evaluation of the owners face,with a face,to observe the relationship between the background will have an impact on the hole and attraction,masculine,maturity and sense of trust as an important factor in the judgment of facial attractiveness,these three traits,smiling and neutral expressions play different roles.Research shows that people who make attractive psychological mechanisms in the judgment,it can also explain why people when dealing with others are different,have a better understanding of what kind of people pay attention to facial features to make attractive judgment.
