A Comparative Study Of Chinese And Turkmen Idioms

Idiom is the product of a developed ethnic or national history and cultural heritage;it summarizes the practical experience and ideological achievements in the exploration of the objective world,it expresses various ideas and concepts concisely and reflects the forms of social relations and customs which is an important carrier of that ethnic culture.This research is mainly composed of four parts:The first part is the introduction,which briefly explains the significance of the idiom in a national language and briefly reviews the current situation of the study of Chinese and Turkmen idioms and introduces the purposes and objective of the study.The second part summarizes the definition and basic characteristics of Chinese and Turkmen idioms.The third part of this paper focuses on the comparative study of Chinese and Turkmen idioms from the perspective of cultural linguistics through analysis of the origin of Chinese and Turkmen idioms and it points out that Chinese and Turkmen idioms reflect the humanistic characteristics from the aspects of history,geography,religion,production and ideology etc.The fourth part makes a general comparison between the grammatical structure,rhetoric and function of Chinese and Turkmen idioms and explores the functions of comparative study of Chinese and Turkmen idioms in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.It also explores the comparative study of Chinese and Turkmen idioms as an important part of teaching Chinese as a foreign language to Turkmen students.The comparative study of Chinese and Turkmen idioms will not only help students grasp the essence of Chinese but also help improve the language learning level quickly and make students understand the Chinese culture,so as to improve the cultural exchange ability and inter-ethnic communication ability.
