This is a translation report of Global Warming for Dummies(Part II)which includes Chapter 4 to Chapter 6,talking about the reasons for global warming.Global warming has become a heated issue of international organizations and the scientific community since the United Nations Conference on Human Environment in 1972.Research and works on global warming and greenhouse gases in China have been increasing, but works that are easy to understand like the Dummies’ Books are very few.Based on Hans Vermeer’s Skopos Theory, this report studies the application of the Skopos Theory in translation practice and explores a series of translation strategies and skills adopted to tackle the difficulties in the translating process through numerous examples. This report is composed of four parts.Part one gives a brief introduction to the project, including the source, the content, the authors, the objectives and significance of the project.Part two describes the development and translation principles of the Skopos Theory.Part three is the translation process which mainly summarizes the difficulties and demonstrates how the translator deals with the difficulties in the light of the Skopos Theory.Part four presents lessons learned from this translation project and also limitations.
