As China has been more actively involving in public diplomacy activities in recent years,an increasing number of international conferences and events are being hosted or co-sponsored by different levels of the Chinese government.The author chooses the officials'speeches at the opening ceremony of the 2014 United Cities and Local Governments World Council held in Haikou city,Hainan province,as the material for simulation Chinese to English consecutive interpretation practice.This report is based on the author's simulation of consecutive interpretation practice and it introduces the background and processes involved in simulative interpretation with regard to summarizing the features of the structure and content of such speeches.By analyzing both the interpreting record and the whole simulation process,this report emphasizes the importance of making preparations before interpreting and suggests corresponding measures to resolve the possible difficulties in interpreting.The author hopes that through this report,a conclusion to her postgraduate study and internship can be made.Furthermore,the author aims to provide some perspectives for trainee interpreters,especially those among MTI majors.
