Objective: This single-center retrospective matched case-control study was preliminarily to evaluate the effect of single dose of preoperative pregabalin on the analgesia after electroprostatectomy. Methods: The patients underwent transurethral resection of the prostate(TURP)from August 2018 to April 2019 in our hospital were reviewed in this study.34 patients with single dose of preoperative pregabalin were included as case group. Two of them were excluded due to renal dysfunction and taking analgesia against post herpetic neuralgia respectively.32 patients without oral pregabalin was included matching with age, height, weight, anesthesia methods, operation duration, postoperative pain management. The patients in case group all took oral pregabalin 150 mg 2 hours before operations. Results: VAS scores of static and dynamic pain and postoperative supplementary analgesic dose in the case group were significantly lower than those in the controlled group at 4,6 and 24 h after surgery(p < 0.05).There was no significant difference in VAS pain score at 48 h after surgery, preoperative sedation and postoperative adverse reactions between pregabalin case group and the controlled group(p > 0.05).Conclusion: Oral Pregabalin 150 mg before surgery can improve and control the acute pain after electroprostatectomy, and no significant side effects were found in both groups. The facilitation of pregabalin on analgesia showed no relationship with sedation. However,it is only a retrospective case-control study with small sample size,a prospective randomized control study is necessary for further confirmation.
