Clinical Study On Bushen Huoxue Decoction In Treating Chronic Insomnia In Elderly Patients

Objective: To observe the efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese medicine Bushen Huoxue Decoction in the treatment of chronic insomnia in the elderly,in order to provide new ideas for clinical treatment of chronic insomnia in the elderly.Methods: 92 elderly patients with chronic insomnia who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into treatment group(46 cases)and control group(46 cases).The treatment group took Chinese medicine Bushen Huoxue Decoction,and the control group took western medicine with estazolam.The treatment period was 6 weeks.The observation time points were before treatment,2 weeks,4 weeks,and 6 weeks after treatment.The main indicators were the scores of the Pittsburgh Sleep Scale(PSQI)and the SPIEGEL Sleep Self-Assessment Scale.Secondary indicators were scores for the Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA)and the Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD-17).The TCM syndrome efficacy index is the TCM syndrome score.Observe the safety indicators before and after treatment.The PSQI reduction rate was used to evaluate the clinical efficacy,and the TCM syndrome score reduction rate was used as the evaluation index of TCM syndrome efficacy.The efficacy of the two groups was evaluated using statistical software SPSS21.0.Results: A total of 83 cases were observed in this study.Among them,42 patients in the treatment group completed observation and 4 patients fell off;41 patients in the control group completed observation and 5 patients fell off.There were significant differences in PSQI,SPIEGEL,HAMA,and HAMD scores between the two groups after 6 weeks of treatment(P<0.05).Comparison between groups:(1)After 6 weeks of treatment,there were significant differences in PSQI,SPIEGEL,HAMA,HAMD,and TCM syndrome scores between the treatment group and the control group.The scores of the treatment group were lower than the control group.Group(P < 0.05).(2)Clinical efficacy: The clinical efficacy of the treatment group was 95.2%,and the clinical efficacy of the control group was 92.7%.The clinical efficacy of the two groups was comparable(P>0.05).(7)Efficacy of TCM syndromes: The effective rate of TCM syndromes in the treatment group was 90.5%,and the TCM syndrome in the control group was 70.7%.The TCM syndromes in the treatment group were superior(P<0.05).Conclusion: Bushen Huoxue Decoction can effectively alleviate the symptoms of elderly patients with chronic insomnia,and it is safe.Bushen Huoxue Decoction can not only significantly reduce the PSQI and SPIEGEL scores,but also improve the anxiety and depression of patients.It can be used clinically to treat chronic insomnia in the elderly.
