Objective: This study used Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging(rs-fMRI)to explore the potential regional homogeneity(ReHo)brain activity changes in patients with fungal corneal ulcer(FCU)and its relationship with clinical symptoms. Methods:Forty patients with fungal corneal ulcer(26 males and 14 females)and 40 healthy controls(26 males and 14 females)with 40 eyes matching age, sex, and years of education were selected for rest.Functional magnetic resonance scanning, using ReHo method to evaluate changes in synchronous nerve activity,Using ROC curve to evaluate the accuracy of ReHo value in abnormal brain area to distinguish patients with fungal corneal ulcer from healthy control group. Results:Compared with healthy controls, patients with fungal corneal ulcer had left / right cerebellum posterior lobe, left inferior temporal gyrus, right lingual gyrus, left middle frontal gyrus,left/right angular gyrus, left cingulate gyrus, and bilateral superior frontal gyrus the ReHo signal value increased significantly, the ReHo signal value of the right anterior cingulate and the left precentral gyrus decreased,ReHo was statistically significant(P < 0.05).ROC curve analysis showed that the individual AUCs of ReHo values in different brain regions were left cerebellum posterior lobe(0.750,p<0.001);right cerebellum posterior lobe(0.732,p<0.001);left inferior temporal gyrus(0.726,p<0.001);right lingual gyrus(0.789,p<0.001);left middle frontal gyrus(0.774,p<0.001);left angular gyrus(0.776,p<0.001);right angular gyrus(0.817,p<0.001);Left cingulate gyrus(0.805,p<0.001));bilateral superior frontal gyrus(0.792,p<0.001);left precentral gyrus(0.757,p<0.001);right anterior cingulate(0.788,p<0.001).Conclusion:There are abnormal neuronal activities in many brain areas of patients with fungal corneal ulcer,The abnormal changes of brain area may reflect the dysfunction of sleep function, mental state, visual selectivity, visual memory and skin sensation in patients with fungal corneal ulcer.
