Objective:The main objective of this study was to understand the present status of anxiety symptoms and their severity among middle school students in Ganzhou City, and to explore the influencing factors of anxiety symptoms from the aspects of demographic characteristics, family conditions,lifestyles,self-assessment,coping styles, life events and so on.In order to provide scientific basis for the improvement measures of anxiety symptoms,we analyzed the action path of influencing factors on anxiety symptoms, and constructed structural equation model. Methods:Using stratified cluster random sampling method,3081 middle school students from grade one to three from 8 schools in four districts/counties(Zhanggong District,Nankang District,Yudu County and Xinfeng County)of Ganzhou City were selected as the research participants. The anxiety symptoms and related factors were investigated by self-administered questionnaire. The questionnaire includes the basic information(gender, grade, school type, etc.),family information(parents' education level, relationship with parents, etc.),lifestyles(smoking, drinking, exercise, sleep quality,etc.),self-rated health(self-rated life pressure,self-rated learning pressure, etc.),life events, coping styles and anxiety symptoms.EpiData 3.1 was used for database building and data entry,IBM SPSS 24.0 was used for statistical analysis, and Amos 23.0 was used for structural equation building.Results:1.The prevalence of anxiety symptoms of middle school students in Ganzhou City was 27.3%,and the prevalence of mild, moderate and severe anxiety symptoms were 21.5%,4.8% and 1.0%,respectively.2.The prevalence of anxiety symptoms in students without separate rooms was 1.383 times(95% CI: 1.097 ~ 1.744);the prevalence of anxiety symptoms in students with irregular diet was 1.724 times(95% CI: 1.352 ~ 2.198);the prevalence of anxiety symptoms in students with poor sleep quality was 1.580 times(95% CI: 1.150 ~ 2.171);the prevalence of anxiety symptoms in students with self-rated overweight type was 1.403 times(95% CI: 1.087 ~ 1.812)of those with normal self-rated body type;the prevalence of anxiety symptoms of those with high self-rated learning stress was 2.351 times(95% CI: 1.658 ~ 3.333)of those with low self-rated stress;the high score of life events and high score of negative coping style had positive predictive effect on anxiety symptoms(OR > 1),and the high score of positive coping style had negative predictive effect on anxiety symptoms(OR < 1).3.Structural equation model showed that in the model 1,family condition indirectly affected anxiety symptoms, with an indirect effect of 0.006;lifestyles,self-rated health status and life events directly or indirectly affected anxiety symptoms, with a total effect of 0.420,0.264 and 0.484,respectively.4.In the model 2 constructed by negative coping style, the basic personal situation indirectly affects anxiety symptoms, with an indirect effect of 0.026,lifestyle,self-rated health status and life events directly or indirectly affect anxiety symptoms, with a total effect of 0.400,0.241 and 0.522 in turn.Among the two models, life events had the greatest influence on anxiety symptoms, with the total effects of 0.484 and 0.522,respectively.Conclusions:1.The prevalence of anxiety symptoms of middle school students in Ganzhou is prominent.2.Individual living room, three meals regular diet or not, sleep quality,self-assessment body shape,self-assessment study stress, life events, positive coping style, negative coping style are independent influencing factors of anxiety symptoms.3.In Model 1,which is based on positive coping style, family condition affects anxiety symptoms through indirect path,lifestyles,self-assessment health condition, life events can directly affect anxiety symptoms, and can also affect anxiety symptoms through indirect path.In Model 2,which is based on the negative coping style, the basic personal condition affects anxiety symptoms through indirect path,lifestyles,self-assessment health condition, life events directly can directly affect anxiety symptoms, and can also affect anxiety symptoms through indirect path.Among the two models, life events had the greatest influence on anxiety symptoms.
