ObjectiveTo explore the correlation between plasma corin levels and severity of coronary artery lesions in patients with atherosclerotic heart disease(CHD).Methods100 CHD patients(CHD group)treated at the Department of Cardiology of Gansu Provincial Hospital(the stenosis degree was indicated by coronary arteriography(CAG))from October 2018 to October 2019 and 30 subjects with a normal coronary angiogram(control group)(no obvious plaques)were included.(1)The CHD patients were further divided into three groups based on Gensini scores from CAG using tertiles. The patients with Gensini scores ?30 were classified into the low Gensini score group(n=34),those with Gensini scores of 30-48 into middle Gensini score group(n=33),and those with Gensini scores?48 high into high Gensini score group(n=33).(2)The included CHD patients were divided into groups by the number of coronary arteries involved on CAG.Left anterior descending artery(LAD),left circumflex coronary artery(LCX),right coronary artery(RCA),and left main coronary artery(LMCA)are the main vessels of coronary arteries. For example,if the LMCA was involved, the number of lesions was counted as two. Thus the patients were divided into single-vessel lesion group(n=36),double-vessel lesion group(n=32),and multiple-vessel lesion group(n=32).(3)The baseline information was collected via the digital diagnosis and treatment system, including gender, age, height, weight, smoking status, alcohol consumption, and concomitant diseases such as hypertension and diabetes.Meanwhile, the data of routine blood tests and biochemistry tests were collected.(4)The plasma corin concentration was determined by the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Results(1)The baseline data were compared between the CHD group and the control group. There were significant differences between the two groups in gender, age, history of hypertension, smoking history, history of diabetes,BMI,HDL-C,LDL-C,TG,TC,Gensiniscores and corin levels(P<0.001).(2)The baseline data were compared between the low, moderate and high Gensini score groups. There were significant differences between the three groups in gender.age, history of hypertension, smoking history, history of diabetes,BMI,HDL-C,LDL-C,TG,TC,Gensini scores and corin levels(P<0.001).(3)The baseline data were also compared among the patients in single-vessel lesion group,double-vessel lesion group and multiple-vessel lesion group. The three groups differed significantly in gender, age, history of hypertension, smoking history, history of diabetes,BMI,HDL-C,LDL-C,TG,TC,Gensini scores, and corin levels(P<0.001).(4)It was found that gender, age, history of hypertension, smoking history, history of diabetes,BMI,HDL-C,LDL-C,TG,TC,and corin level were of statistical significance by logistic multiple regression model.ROC curve was plotted by using Gensini scores as the state variable. The low Gensini score was set as a state variable of 0,and the high Gensini score as a state variable of 1.The results showed that the area under the ROC curve(AUC)of plasma corin levels for the diagnosis of high Gensini scores was 0.889(P<0.01).Therefore,plasma corin levels had a certain diagnostic value for higher Gensini scores. The optimal cutoff for the diagnosis of high Gensini scores by plasma corin levels was 31.15ng/L,the sensitivity 84%,and specificity 67%.Therefore,plasma corin levels may be used as an evaluation indicator of the severity of the coronary artery lesions.ConclusionPlasma corin levels may be a candidate predictor of the severity of coronary artery lesions.
