Objective:To assess the Langerhans cells(LC)counts in Odontogenic keratocysts(OKCs)is correlated with clinical indicators and biological behavior, provide a reference for the selection of clinical treatment methods and evaluation of the effect of the disease.Method:According to the inclusion criteria,74 pathological specimens Immunostained with anti-CD1? antibodies from 49 OKC patients undergoing surgical treatment at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Nanchang University during the period from June 1999 to June 2019.Use relevant statistical methods to analyze whether there is a correlation between the number of LC and the prognosis?between the degree of inflammation and LC counts?the thickness of lining epithelium of OKC.Result:The numbers of Langerhans cell in the lining epithelium and subepithelial connective tissues were significantly different in the non-inflammatory group, mild inflammation group, and severe inflammation group. The thickness of OKC lining epithelium was significantly different between the non-inflammatory group and the inflammatory group. The numbers of LC are no significant correlated with the clinical parameters(gender, age, lesion location, lesion size, recurrence)of OKC patients. The number of LC did not change significantly, the thickness of the lining epithelium increased significantly, and the lesions significantly reduced before and after OKC decompression. The recurrence of OKC is no significantly related to the patient's gender, age, lesion location, lesion size, and presence or absence of inflammation, but is significantly related to the treatment method. Conclusion:A significant association of inflammation grade with the number of LCs in the lining epithelium and fibrous connective tissue of OKC is found. The number of Langerhans cell in inflammatory OKC is more than that in the non-inflammatory group, and it has a certain immune monitoring ability for proliferating lining epithelial cells to inflammatory OKC.The number of LC have no obvious correlation with the recurrence of OKC.And the study shows that decompression followed by enucleation can significantly reduce postoperative recurrence rate compared with simple enucleation. The effect of applying decompression on OKC is worth clinical reference.
