Clinical Observation Of Danpi Decoction Combined With Antibiotics In The Treatment Of Periappendiceal Abscess

Objective The aim of this study is to explore the clinical efficacy of Danpi decoction with antibioticsin treating abscesses around the appendix and to provide theoretical support for Danpi decoction with antibioticsin treating abscesses around the appendix though prospective research methods.Methods Patients diagnosed with abscess around the appendix and treated conservatively from December 1st,2018 to December 1st,2019 in Gansu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine or Yulin Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Shaanxi Province were selected as the objects of study.After randomly numbering the patients,patients with odd number were the experimental group taking Danpi Decoction+antibiotic medication as the treatment method while patients with even number were the controlled group taking antibiotic medication as the treatment method.Then researchers observed the clinical characteristics and related laboratories of the two groups of patients.Results During the treatment,one person in the experimental group was excluded from the study because he did not take the prescribed medicine;one person in the control group changed the treatment plan for other diseases during the treatment;one person did not complete a course of treatment,so the experimental group eventually included 32 patients and the control group eventually included 31 patients.Comparison of basic features:There were 17male patients in the experimental group aged by(36.43±6.84)years while 16 male patients in the controlled group aged by(35.54±6.51)years.The time from onset to treatment in the experimental group was(4.15±1.37)days while the controlled group was(4.61±1.72)days.The temperature in the experimental group was(38.38±0.94?)while the controlled group was(38.59±0.71?).There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of gender,age,time from onset to visit and temperature at the time of visit,All(P>0.05).Body temperature recovery:The time for the experimental group back to normal temperature was(69.22±10.92)hours while the time for the controlled group back to normal was(80.87±12.90)hours,P=0.01.The maximum diameter of the abscess:Prior to treatment,patients in both groups had comparable maximal abscess size(P>0.05),After one course of treatment,the maximal diameter of abscess was compared between the two groups(P<0.05),and the effect of the experimental group was better than the controlled group.White blood cell count:Before treatment,the number of white blood cells in the experimental group was(13.51±2.99)*10~9/L while the white blood cell count of the controlled group was(13.62±2.99)*10~9/L,P>0.05.After 3 days of treatment,the white blood cell count of the experimental group was(8.18±2.18)*10~9/L while the controlled group was(10.00±1.23)*10~9/L,P<0.05.the number of cells in the experimental group was lower than that in the controlled group.CRP:Before treatment,the CRP of the experimental group was(13.30±2.72)mg/L,while the CRP of the controlled group was(12.41±2.09)mg/L,P>0.05,indicating that the two groups of patients were comparable.After 3 days treatment,the CRP of the experimental group was(4.78±1.80)mg/L,while the CRP of the controlled group was(7.22±2.24)mg/L,P<0.05,and the experimental group was lower than the controlled group.Pain score:The pain score before treatment in the experimental group was(7.12±1.07)while the pain score in the controlled group was(6.90±1.22),P>0.05,indicating that the two groups of patients were comparable.After 24 hours of treatment,the experimental group was(3.62±1.50)while the controlled group was(5.29±1.21),P<0.05,and the pain score of experimental group was lower than that of the controlled group.After 48 hours of treatment,the experimental group was(1.15±1.13)while the controlled group is(2.45±1.26),P<0.05,and the experimental group pain score was lower than the controlled group.The hospitalization time:The hospital stay in the experimental group was(10.34±2.08)days while the hospital stay in the control group was(12.45±2.14)days,P<0.05,and the hospital stay in the experimental group was shorter than that in the controlled group.The efficacy of TCM treatment in the experimental group was 93.8%while that in the control group was 71.0%,P<0.05,and the experimental group was higher than the controlled group.Conclusion Danpi decoction with antibioticscan help body temperature of patients recover from the fever around the appendix,promote the relief of the abscess,reduce the symptoms of pain,accelerate the reduction of white blood cells and CRP,which indirectly proves that Danpi decoction with antibioticscan reduce the body's inflammatory response in patients with appendix abscess,It can shorten the length of hospital stay,indicating that combination of danpi decoction and antibiotics can improve the patient's condition quickly.
