Objective: The aim of this study was to observe the vertical bone augmentation after staged approach lateral window sinus floor elevation, analysis the related influencing factors that may cause the change of vertical bone height, and provide a clinical reference for preoperative evaluation and treatment effect of lateral window sinus floor elevation. Methods: Patients who received staged approach lateral window sinus floor elevation were enrolled in this study.A total of 33 dental missing sites were inserted into 18 patients with 18 maxillary sinus. The mean patient age was 53.61 years(range 27-69 years). The residual bone height before the surgery, the vertical bone height after the surgery and after the surgery 6 months, and the change of vertical bone augmentation were measured, for analyzed the influencing factors of the change of vertical bone augmentation after lateral window sinus floor elevation, involved the patients' gender, age, the number of losing teeth, the sites of losing teeth,RBH,the membrane thickness of the maxillary sinus and the maxillary sinus width. Results: 1.The bone height has decreased significantly between after the surgery and after the surgery 6 months. The reduction of bone height was 0.56 ±0.25 mm.2.Related influencing factors of the change of vertical bone augmentation:(1)The patients' gender, age, the number of losing teeth, the sites of losing teeth, the initial membrane thickness of the maxillary sinus were not influence the vertical bone augmentation..(2)The change of vertical bone augmentation between after the surgery and after the surgery 6 months is related with the residual bone height significantly. The decreasing of vertical bone augmentation in patients with RBH greater than 5 mm was significantly higher than that of patients with RBH less than 5 mm.(3)The decreasing of vertical bone augmentation between after the surgery and after the surgery 6 months was positively correlated with the sinus width. Conclusions: 1.The bone height has decreased significantly at 6 months after lateral window sinus floor elevation surgery compared with the day after surgery;2.When the preoperative RBH was more than 5 mm,the decrease of the vertical bone augmentation was significantly increased;3.The maxillary sinus width was positively correlated with the decrease of the vertical bone augmentation;4.The initial membrane thickness of the maxillary sinus, gender, age, number of losing teeth, sites of losing teeth were not the influencing factors of the change of vertical bone augmentation..
