| Purpose: the aim of this study was to compare the effects of oral implants at lateral window sinus augmentation sites with different residual vertical bone heights(RVBH).Materials and Methods: During 2008 to 2012, 12 patients received lateral window sinus augmentation for oral implant placement in our clinical center: 6 patients had 9 implants placement at sites with 2~3mm residual bone height(2 implants delayed placement, 7 implants immediate placement), while 6 patients got 13 implants with 3~5mm remanent bone heights(2 implants delayed placement, 11 implants immediate placment). The survival rate, the bone resorption and marginal bone loss were evaluated. The average following time was 44.1 months.Result: All implants survived and functioned well during the following-up, the marginal bone loss was 0.72±0.23 mm in 2~3mm RVBH group and 0.68±0.19 mm in 3~5mm RVBH group. There were no statistically difference between the two groups in the bone resorption and marginal bone loss during the following time. Conclusions: the present study indicates that dental implants with lateral window sinus augmentation can survival in severe atrophy maxilla sites, immediate implant placement this procedure will reduced the number of surgical interventions, treatment time and lighten the pain of patients. |
