Laryngeal papillomatosis is one of the most common benign neoplasm in children,often caused by human papilloma virus types 6 and11.Surgical intervention for such disease challenge anesthesiologists with the difficulty in airway management.How to secure the airway and provide adequate ventilation is always problematic.This article investigates the etiology,treatment options,ventilation strategies,anesthesia-related complications and management of laryngeal papillomatosis.Spontaneous respiration anesthesia,apneic anesthesia with intermittent ventilation,high frequency jet ventilation,tracheal intubation,tracheotomy are often used in these patients.This review focus on the clinical indications and related complications using above techniques,hoping to provide reference for the practice of anesthesia in this group of children. |
