Objective To investigate effects of electro-acupuncture?EA?on early postoperative neurocognition, pain, nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery. Methods Eighty-eight patients undergoing gastrointestinal tumors'laparotomy surgery with general anesthesia were randomly divided into group C,EA1,EA2 and EA3,twenty-two cases in each group.Group C did not apply EA,group EA1 in one day before operation, group EA2 in one day and 30 minutes before operation, group EA3 in one day and 30 minutes before operation combined with one day after operation treated with EA,acupoints in Baihui?GV20?,Sishencong?EX-HN1?,Shenting?GV24?and bilateral Neiguan?PC6?,Hegu?LI4?,Shenmen?HT7?with dilatational wave,2/100Hz,2-3mA,lasting for 30 mins. The scores of mini-mental state examination?MMSE?,montreal cognitive assessment?MoCA?and time of trail making test?TMT?were recorded one day before operation?T0?and the first?T1?,third?T2?,seventh?T3?days after operation, observed resting and motion visual analogue scale?VAS R/M?,nausea and vomiting on T1,T2,T3.Results One case was eliminated in group C and EA1.On the MoCA scores, group EA2and EA3 were higher than group C and EA1 on T1?P<0.05?,there was no statistical significance on T2 and T3 among each group?P>0.05?.T1 MoCA score in group C and EA1 were lower than T0?P<0.05?,group EA2 and EA3 had no statistically difference with T0?P>0.05?,T2 and T3 had no statistically significant?P>0.05?.On the MMSE scores and TMT time, there was no significant difference on T0,T1,T2,T3 among four groups?P>0.05?.Comparison of VAS scores,T1 VASR and VASM in EA2 were lower than group C and EA1?P<0.05?,T2 and T3 had no statistical difference?P>0.05?;T1 VASR,VASM and T2 VASR in EA3 were lower than group C and EA1?P<0.05?,T2 VASM and T3 score had no statistical difference?P>0.05?.T2 was lower than T1?P<0.05?and T3 was lower than T2?P<0.05?among four groups. There was no significant difference in the incidence of nausea and vomiting on T1,T2,T3 among four groups?P>0.05?.Conclusion Multi-time electro-acupuncture could improve early postoperative neuro-cognitive disorders and alleviated postoperative pain, but had no obvious effect on postoperative nausea and vomiting.
